Welcome to the Fallout!

Hi, I'm Brian, and this website is my own personal play area. I program websites as a career and wanted to play with it a bit on my own. It gives me a chance to play with tools that I wouldn't otherwise, as well as to try things I might not get away with or have the time to do at work. It also gives me a chance to show my family what I do, as it very early turned into a blog/forum.
This website has had many different layouts and structures since it's inception in September of 1999, but it's always had the same idea behind it, and it's always been a lot of fun. It received the name "thefallout" and the corresponding domain in May 2004. I got that name as a tribute to Switchfoot's "Learning to Breathe" album.
When the site started, there were just two sections: the Forum (where I chatted with my family) and Images (where we uploaded pictures to share with each other). In 2014, I added the Updates section where I post my monthly updates. In 2016, I added the Users section. In 2018, I added email verification for access to the updates and finally updated the layout to be mobile friendly. In 2021, I updated the Images section to be the new Media section using the images and videos from my monthly updates. And in 2022, I updated access to updates and media from email verification to one-time-passwords via your phone or email. So it's a slow process, but it's just for fun, and I enjoy it. :)

Requesting Access

There's two different levels of access on this site. The first is for anyone who wants to see my updates or media. You can Request Access by entering your phone number or email address and then using the one-time-password sent to you. Here's more information about this process.
The second level of access is for my family, who have accounts and passwords they use on the Logon page to get to the forum and users sections. Let me know if you have questions about the difference between the Request Access page and the Logon page.
